Battuto 245 is 6 mm thick — the point at which a dropped bumper plate stops being felt through the slab below.
The centre strip is replaceable on its own when it eventually marks up.
A ply core with rubber wings and a hardwood centre strip — drop on the rubber, lift on the wood, which is what protects both. It wears slowly and visibly, so you replace it because you decided to rather than because it failed mid-session.
