Cables on Portanza 289 are 7 mm aircraft-grade, rated well past the stack and swaged rather than clamped.

Upholstery is a single wipe-clean panel, held by four bolts. When it eventually splits, it is a spare part rather than a new machine.

Powder-Coated Steel on a 75 mm box section. Guide rods are hard-chromed and run in self-lubricating bushings, so the stack drops quietly and stays quiet. It is built to be serviced rather than replaced: every wear part unbolts.
