Cables on Portanza 984 are 6 mm aircraft-grade, rated well past the stack and swaged rather than clamped.
Powder-Coated Steel on a 75 mm box section. Guide rods are hard-chromed and run in self-lubricating bushings, so the stack drops quietly and stays quiet.
The weight stack is steel, in 5 kg plates, pinned with a magnetic selector that cannot fall out mid-set. Every pulley is sealed-bearing nylon, not a bushing on a bolt. The finish marks before the frame does, which is the right way round.
